🧾 US Gift Tax calculator

Check whether a gift in the US goes over the annual exclusion, and how much of your federal lifetime exemption it uses up. Results update instantly and nothing is sent to any server.

Ballpark estimate (2026 figures) covering only the FEDERAL gift tax. In the US, unlike in Spain, the tax is paid by whoever GIVES the gift (the donor), not whoever receives it, and the relationship doesn't change the calculation. Almost no state has its own gift tax (the one real exception is Connecticut, not covered here). This doesn't model gift splitting between spouses, or the exact lifetime exemption used in past years beyond what you enter. This doesn't replace advice from a tax professional.

2026 annual exclusion: $19,000 per person you gift to, with no limit on the number of people. Anything above that eats into your federal lifetime exemption ($15,000,000 in 2026), and you only owe actual tax once that exemption is fully used up, which is rare outside very large estates.
